On the other hand, other children who seek more intense stimuli may be constantly moving, jumping, swinging, or reaching for objects they should not touch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Children on the autism spectrum often have difficulties with processing stimuli, which can affect their ability to learn, communicate, and interact with others. Sensory therapy is a form of support that helps them better understand their body, emotions, and needs, as well as discover ways to regulate their behavior in response to stimuli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What does sensory therapy look like?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sensory therapy is a process that combines science, play, and an individual approach to the child\u2019s needs. Sessions take place in a specially designed space filled with a variety of materials and tools. Hammocks, mattresses, balls, containers with different textures, and tactile stimulation devices \u2013 all of these become part of the work on integrating the senses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each session is tailored to the individual challenges of the child. For one child, it will be getting used to the touch of sand or clay; for another, exercises to improve balance and motor coordination.
